The course aims to familiarize the students with RDBMS (Relational Database Management Systems) for storing, processing, and analyzing data using the relational model, data modeling and the SQL standard as well as using a development environment to solve practical SQL related applications and problems.
The discipline covers basic knowledge of databases and RDBMS, specific concepts and terminology related to the SQL standard and language overview, specific Industry Data Models, Design Principles of Online Transaction processing (OLTP) and Datawarehouse as well as Online Analytical Processing (OLAP), security aspects related to databases, modern Database requirements for application development, new trends in database development such as Cloud and autonomous databases.
